Montana Sunrise

I have been super preoccupied since I arrived in Montana on Monday morning... lets just say its been gorgeous here in the snow, sunshine, and rain.  I haven't wanted to waste a minute on my laptop or looking at photos!  Because this morning's sunrise was so gloriously amazing... I couldn't resist.  Here's a quick one before I grab some breakfast and drive up to Canada for the day!

Klamath Falls in 48 hours - loads of photos!

Klamath Falls is a lovely town in Southern Oregon.  After spending so much time in the major California cities, it was nice to slow things down to a mosey, meet a few local photographers, and enjoy the beautiful scenery that the area offers in abundance.

Sunday was the Klamath Falls Photowalk – back to backphotowalks make me sleep like a rock, by the way – and we had a wonderful time.  The downtown area of Klamath Falls features some really cool Art Deco architecture, stylized modern construction, and peaceful parks.  We had a small group which really helped me get acclimated in the slower pace and high altitude (I forgot just how much being at 4,000 feet will reduce your energy)!

Day two in Klamath Falls was packed with amazing natural locations.  We started at sunrise and made our way – with several gorgeous stops – to Crater Lake National Park.  Fortunately, I picked up a hat and a pair of gloves on the way, because there were still several feet of snow on the ground up there!  Next we moved on to the Rogue River Gorge for incredible rapids and an amazing breakfast at Becky’s (best biscuits and gravy ever)!  Photowalk leader, Brian Gailey, designed a wonderful, 200 mile scenic loop for me to get the full area experience.

Now, after two fantastic days in Klamath Falls, OR I’m on the Coast Starlight up to Portland.  Despite keeping incredibly busy during my time in Klamath Falls, I’ve assembled some of my favorite photos from the Klamath Falls Photowalk and my day of sightseeing for your enjoyment.

San Francisco & GOOGLE!!!

Yesterday I woke up at 4:30am to shoot the sunrise with Mark Esguerra at the Golden Gate Bridge Recreational Area.  Whoa baby, was that an amazing spot.  There wasn't any fog, just gorgeous light, fantastic views, and an awesome friend to shoot with!  

A couple hours, a few hundred exposures, and a giant plate of raspberry pancakes later, we headed down to Mountain View to visit our friend Brian Rose at the Googleplex.  Visiting Google for me was a lot like going to Disneyland for a kid.  I had an AMAZING time getting to see so much at a company I really believe in.

A gorgeous sunrise in Illinois

We woke up yesterday at 4:30am, and decided to just go with it.  After getting some work done on a few upcoming changes with our website, we were rewarded with a spectacular sunrise.  Sometimes it pays off to lose a little sleep.  Happy Friday!

Homesick for the Caribbean? Jordana Wright Photography is too...

We spent all Winter feeling nostalgic for the sights, scents, and sounds of the Caribbean, hoping that any glimpse of Spring weather here in the Midwest would help tide us over.  Well, Spring is here, and we were wrong.  Call us greedy, but robins and daffodils are not equal to pelicans and plumeria.  As the first anniversary of our destination wedding in the British Virgin Islands fast approaches, more than ever, we are homesick for our islands...  

Here are a few more images from our last trip to the British Virgin Islands to feed our collective wander-lust for that Caribbean atmosphere...  

One of the most unique places to catch a beautiful sunset is the marina on Virgin Gorda.  It's a great spot where locals, tourists, and yachties shop, dine, and mingle.

This is one of the amazing old trees at the Rosewood Little Dix Bay Resort.

The Baths... one of the most amazing places on earth.  

Long exposures help capture the gentle lapping of the Caribbean waves.

A questral poses for a photo on one of the many scenic overlooks in Virgin Gorda.  He didn't mind the sound of the shutter, but flew away immediately when a fan full of tourists pulled up.  Smart bird.

This sunrise was one the most memorable experiences of the trip.  After an early morning hike up to the highest point of Virgin Gorda, we were greeted with dramatic clouds, a gentle breeze, and a beautiful reminder of why its worth it to get up and go at 5am -- even on vacation.
